Hi all! I thought it best to start with a little introduction to get things kicked off right around here! First, and I’m sorry in advance for this lol. You will quickly learn that I'm an over punctuator! I tend to use exclamation points a little too freely at times, but hey that's just who I am! Here is a photo of my family from our last road trip (more about our epic road trips later!). Here are a few facts about me and how I came to be doing what I’m doing now. Way back in the early 2000's when I decided photography was something neat to learn we were still using dark rooms. I quickly turned a closet into my own darkroom and fell in love! Of course, it was just my luck that I decided to do this right as digital cameras were becoming affordable purchases and so my venture into film photography didn't last too long. When my son came along in 2005 and I took him to get newborn photos taken I realized that, a. chain store photography studios were not the place to expect quality photos and, b. that I could figure this out for myself. Once I got my shiny new digital camera, I was ready to take the most amazing photos of my beautiful baby boy. Easy right? Yeah, not so much. In reality my child has never been still for more than a couple seconds since he was conceived. I should have known a child that couldn't stay warm and safe inside and decided to come 2 months early, would not lay still for a nice photo. If I would have thought that I would have been right! Here is one of the early photos just so you can get an idea of what I had to work with! This was going to be a little harder than I thought! ![]() So, with lots of practice I did get better and by the time that my daughter came along in 2008 I was ready to try my hand and not only taking the photos but editing them too! Lucky for me she was a much more cooperative subject than her brother. It didn’t take me long to realized I liked the design work on the computer so much more than taking the photos. Photoshop was where I had the most fun. I started creating invitations and announcements and found my calling. Once I purchased my first silhouette after not being happy with cricut cartridges, I was ready to dip my toes into the world of SVG creators. I tried my hand and fonts and liked doing those as well. Then I was introduced to the Glowforge and found my new love! How I use my Glowforge (nicknamed Real Genius) and my projects will make up most of my posts here so get ready to see some awesome stuff! Here is my code if anyone would like to save a little when you decide to purchase one for yourself!
